Message: The Spirit of Christ & His Anointing

Text: Matthew 16:16, Rom 8:9-10
For 3 weeks we have been talking about the person of Jesus, the character and the mind of Jesus – The humanity and human nature seen by others that makes us Christians.
Now let me start by saying – we have been taught about the Holy Spirit, The Spirit of God the Father but we really don’t know much about the Spirit of Christ!
Listen: Christ is the only way to the Father and until we have His spirit, we cannot access the Father because He is not a man but a Spirit.
Life is spiritual and if any man must know Christ, they must be spiritual!
No man can truly display the character of Jesus until receives the Spirit of Christ. Every man’s character is the product and fruit of the spirit he carries.
When the person of Jesus and spirit of Christ meet, then a Christian is born!
When the spirit of a man rest upon another man they become like him – 2 kings 2:15 (The spirit of Elijah doth rest on Elisha) – Likewise when the spirit of Christ rest upon you, you become like Him. Ah today! Receive the spirit of Christ!!!
The word spirit in Hebrew is Ruach
The word spirit in Greek is Pneuma and it literally means invisible force!
WHAT IS THE SPIRIT OF CHRIST?
- The spirit of Christ is the deity and divinity of Jesus – Matt 16:16
- The spirit of Christ is the spirit of salvation & deliverance – Phil 1:19 KJV & NKJV
By the spirit of Christ – I decree today you are delivered!
- The spirit of Christ is the spirit of freedom & liberty- 2 Cor 3:17 – Phil 2:9-11, John 8:36 (Whom the son sets free is free indeed)
I decree under this anointing – By the Spirit of Christ you are FREE from every satanic affliction!
- The Spirit of Christ is the spirit of supernatural strength to do all things – Phil 4:13
Stretch your hands to me – That which you couldn’t do before – by the spirit of Christ receive strength to do it!
- The spirit of Christ is the breath of life – It is a life-giving spirit – John 10:10, 14:6, (John 20:21-22 TPT) The Holy Spirit was not yet revealed, – Gen 2:7
Listen: You cannot carry the spirit of Christ in you and not manifest His character
When a man gets genuinely born again, what he receives is the life and spirit of Christ through the help the Holy Spirit (2 Cor 5:17) – Eph 4:20-24 TPT
- The spirit of Christ is the revelator of God’s glory – Col 1:27– (Christ in me the hope of glory) – 2 Cor 3:18
By the spirit of Christ may the glory of God be revealed to you today!
- The spirit of Christ is the spirit of prayer – Rom 8:26-27 NKJV (Explain!)
Listen: When a scripture is read out of context it becomes complex and misinterpreted
Vs 26 & 27 are talking about 2 different persons – The Holy Spirit and Christ
Vs 26 – The Holy Spirit helps our weaknesses as physical beings trying to communicate to a spirit being (God) and begins to help us make sounds and groanings from the spirit that communicates to the spirit of God (That is why He is our helper!)
The word intercession here is the Greek word – HUPER-ENTUG-CHANO and it literally means to volunteer or apply yourself to intercede for another.
Vs 27 – Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God
- This can’t be the Holy spirit, because it would seem out of place to state that the spirit knows His own mind! (It doesn’t make sense)
- This also can’t be the Spirit of God the Father, because it says He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God (He cannot intercede for the saints to Himself)
- This is Christ because He searches the hearts and knows the mind of the spirit of God in order to make perpetual intercession for us!
Who makes intercession for the saints? Christ!! – Rom 8:34, Heb 7:22-25 NKJV
The word intercession here is the Greek word ENTUG-CHANO and it means to act as an agent or manager in all phases of salvation and dealings with God
Listen: The Holy Spirit only intercedes for us when we pray but Christ is always interceding for us at the right hand of the Father
The spirit of Christ is the power of his anointing- Luke 4:18
When the spirit comes upon a man it empowers them to do what they are called to do
In Judges 3:9-10 – The spirit of the Lord came upon Othniel and he became a warlord
In Judges 6:34 – The spirit of the Lord came upon Gideon and he became a general
Judges 11:29 – The spirit of the Lord came upon Jephthah and he became a powerful leader
Judges 14:6 – The spirit of the Lord came upon Samson and he tore a lion with his bare hands
1 Sam 10:10 – The spirit of the Lord came upon Saul and he began to prophesy
1 Sam 16:13 – The spirit of the lord came upon David and he became a giant killer
Today! May the Spirit of Christ come upon you! May it come upon you x3
The Lord is my light and my salvation, whom shall, I fear?
The Lord is the strength of my life, of whom shall I be afraid?
Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I shall fear no evil, for God is with me
And if God be for me, who can be against me?
He is the same yesterday; He is the same today, He is the same forever
He said let there be light and there was light
He wraps Himself in light as of with a garment
He shinneth in darkness and darkness couldn’t comprehend
He is my light! My salvation! My law giver! My way maker! My refuge! My fortress! My Strong tower! My Helper! My Deliverer
Somebody holla: I Have the Spirit of Christ
What is the anointing of Christ for?
- To preach the gospel (good news) to the poor, needy
- To preach deliverance to the captives
- To heal the sick & broken hearted
- To restore the sight of the blind
- To give freedom to the oppressed
Prayer:
Father, today as I pray baptize me afresh with the spirit and anointing of Your son Christ Jesus
